Gators Rout Lasers Women's Hoops

Chestnut Hill, MA- Pine Manor took an early lead from the Lasell College women's basketball team and never looked back leading to a 66-48 Gator victory on Tuesday night. 

 

Lasell kept it a close battle in the very early going leading up to an 8-6 score five minutes in after a layup by Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA). The Gators the stretched a 12-2 run over a ten minute span to take a double digit lead, 20-8.  From that point on, Pine Manor would continue to add insurance to their mounting lead, taking a 27 point lead (39-12) into the locker rooms.

 

Lasell came out determined in the second period, quickly cutting the deficit to 20 in the opening minutes.  Despite outscoring the Gators 36-27 in the second period, the Lasers were not able to catch up to the substantial lead Pine Manor had grossed in the first.  The closest the Lasers got was 15 points in debt after a Kim Archibald shot which made the score, 50-35.  

 

Despite the outcome which left Lasell at 1-20 overall and 0-9 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC),  Archibald topped all scorers with a game-high 22 points, adding 12 rebounds for her fifth season double-double.  Kayla Vincelette (Westport, MA) added 12 points, four rebounds and four steals and JoAnna Bishop (So. Burlington, VT) was tough on the glass with 10 boards.  Slattery also chipped in with eight rebounds. 

 

The Gators, who end the night with a 6-13 overall and a 3-6 conference slate, were led by Enjolee Phillips who scored 13 points, while Paulette Wright (Baltimore, MD) came up with 12 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.  Tia Nelson (Rockport, MA) contributed with 12 points also and Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA) took away a game-high 14 rebounds. 

 

Lasell will face their last non-conference opponent, heading to Curry College, on Thursday, February 10th at 7:00 p.m.
