Pomona, NJ---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team (12-9) came up short on Saturday, falling to host Richard Stockton (15-6), 68-60. The Bulldogs, who trailed by 11 at the half, staged a furious second half comeback, however they could not finish the job, as their three-game win streak was ended.

The Ospreys started the game with some good interior play as Julie Fagan scored her team's first eight points, taking an early 8-3 advantage. Brooklyn's Justine O'Callahan scored on a nice spin move, followed by a pull-up jumper by Ariel Smith to cut the lead back down to one, 8-7.

Stockton would go on a 21-11 run to open up an 11-point advantage as a Nancy White jumper pushed the score to 29-18 with 5:48 remaining. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the period as the Ospreys took a 34-23 lead into the break.

The second half saw a much different Bulldogs team take the court as a Tiana Logan bucket, followed by consecutive baskets from Smith, cut the lead to five, 34-29, minutes into the second stanza.

Stockton answered the run with a Latonya Oliver layup followed by an Aliyah Nelson three, ballooning the lead back to 10, 39-29.

Smith would run off five straight points, to cut the lead back to five, and then after Stockton answered with an Oliver free throw, Brooklyn's Amber Gordon and Smith would hit on consecutive layups to cut the lead to two, 40-38.

In this game of runs, Stockton would go on an 8-2 run, capped by an Aspen Price-Perry jumper, extending the lead to 48-40.

Brooklyn would go on another big run, a 7-0 stretch, sparked by five straight points from Lauren Plagainos. The run would cut the deficit to one, 48-47, with 8:19 remaining in the game, but for the next 2:40 of play, neither team would score, in a drought that included four missed shots by BC, each of which would have given them their first lead of the game.

Oliver would finally end the break in scoring with a put-back that sparked a 6-0 run by her team, giving her team the 54-47 advantage with 4:07 left to play.

Smith once again answered for Brookyn, but her Bulldogs could not get the stops they needed down the stretch and the teams continued to trade baskets over the next couple of minutes.

Another Smith jumper cut the deficit back to seven, 62-55, with 52 seconds to play. Price-Perry was fouled and only converted on one of two, leading to a push by Smith who found Gordon for the corner three, cutting the lead back to five, 63-58, with 39 seconds to play.

Brooklyn used their final timeout, but an attempt at a steal could was not converted, leading to another foul of Price-Perry who made both her free throws, essentially sealing the victory.

Smith led Brooklyn with 24 points and seven steals. Impressively, 17 of her points were scored in the second half of play. Tiayana Logan chipped in with 12 points.

LaTonya Oliver led Stockton with 16 points, while Fagan had a game-high 16 boards.
