THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - CLU never looked back after using a 17-3 scoring run to close out the first half in taking down Pomona-Pitzer by an 85-31 margin on Thursday night inside Gilbert Arena. The Regals defense has held three of its last five opponents to 40 points or less, including a season-best 31 to the Sagehens.

Box Score: CLU 85, PP 31 - F

Pomona-Pitzer's Emi Hashizume scored 10 points to lead the visiting side including an early triple that gave her squad a 5-4 lead. That would be the one and only time the Sagehens would lead Thursday evening's contest. The other P-P highlight would be Asha Gipson's 17 rebounds, including 10 first half boards to lead all players.

Despite not scoring for over five straight minutes in the first half Cal Lutheran managed to put up 41 points by intermission. Starla Wright contributed 10 of her 12 in the frame and saw only 14 minutes of action.

No CLU player recorded more than 25 minutes of game time, with Alex Nelson making the most of her action contributing eight points, and team-highs of six rebounds and five assists. Teammate Taylor Autry had a perfect shooting night with a career-high seven points, to go along with two assists.

The Regals erased any thoughts of a Sagehens comeback after Wright, Erica Whitley and Chelsey Hastigan scored eight unanswered points to open the second half. Hastigan led all scorers with 13 points.

Cal Lutheran not only forced 31 turnovers but took advantage of Pomona-Pitzer miscues cashing in to the tune of 39 points. Many of the Regals points came within close range outscoring the Sagehens 36-6 in the paint.

Sophomore forward Rachel Heagy made her first collegiate start and scored six points on a 3-for-4 shooting night from the floor. Teammate Maya Sotelo led the Regals reserve group with 11 points including three of the team's nine three pointers.

Every CLU player in a non-starting role contributed to scoring column including 10 from Donielle Griggs, Hayley Jensen with five, Julia Cratty with four, and a pair from Shana Moore and Jessica Pruitt.

Cal Lutheran (11-8, 5-3 SCIAC) will be on the road Saturday, Feb. 5 at La Verne (8-11, 5-3 SCIAC) for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
