SALISBURY, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball senior Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) scored a career-high 27 points to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds while the Mustangs shot 56.0 percent in the second half, outscoring Salisbury by 18 en route to snapping their 18-game CAC losing streak Monday, 75-59 at the Maggs Physical Activities Center.

Ironically, the last conference win for Stevenson (2-17, 1-10 CAC) came against the Sea Gulls at home, 55-53 back on Jan. 20, 2010. The win also snapped a 13-game road losing skid for the Mustangs.

For Steiner, it marked her 13th career double double, fifth this season and third in the last four games. It was also her first career 20-point game. She totaled 13 of her points from the free throw line where she was 13-of-19.

As a team, Stevenson was 24-of-31 from the free throw line, a season-high in both free throws made and attempted.

Not to be outdone, freshman Alissa Chambliss (Hanover/Meade) scored a career-high 16 points, all of which came in the second half as Stevenson was 14-for-25 while outscoring Salisbury, 46-28. Steiner and Chambliss combined for 30 of the team's 46 second half points.

Senior JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian) added 11 points and the Mustangs' five starters accounted for 68 of the team's 75 points. Junior Daniela Poss (Brookeville/Good Counsel) and sophomore Sam Murray (Reisterstown/St. Paul's) each had six points while Murray added six rebounds.

Salisbury (7-12, 4-6 CAC) led by as many as six with 1:36 remaining in the first half, but Stevenson cut the deficit to two at the half, 31-29.

In the second half, the game was tied for the fifth time at 38-38 before a 9-2 run gave the Mustangs a seven-point advantage, 47-40 with 13:51 left. They would stretch the advantage to as many as 18 and were 15-of-18 from the free throw line.

Glen Charlton had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead the Sea Gulls while Chante McKinney added 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday with a CAC home contest versus Wesley. Game time is at 6:00 p.m., on Faculty/Staff Spirit Night. There will be prizes, giveaways and free admission for faculty and staff and their families when they show their SU One card.
