Tommies back in share of MIAC lead

St. Thomas used a monster game by senior center Rachel Booth and some sizzling free throw shooting to hold off St. Olaf, 68-59, in Monday night's MIAC women's basketball road victory in Northfield.

The Tommie win and St. Ben's 52-48 home loss to Bethel let the Toms tie the Blazers atop the MIAC standings with six games remaining.

UST (14-5 overall, 13-3 MIAC) has won 17 of its last 21 conference road games.

Booth had a season-high 28 points and 12 rebounds including two 3-point baskets. Freshman Maggie Weiers had 16 points and seven boards, including a 10-for-10 run at the foul line. Weiers made eight free throws in the final 1:40 to lead a 10-2 game-closing run.

Taylor Young had nine points and Jazmin Townsend chipped in eight.UST outrebounded the Oles 43-36.

UST is home for three consecutive games starting Wednesday night against St. Mary's.
