BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Senior Carrie Bunnell (Barnet, Vt.) and junior Kelley Paradis (Newport, Maine) scored 16 points apiece to pace the University of New England in a 57-48 victory over Regis College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) women's basketball action Thursday evening at the Campus Center.

The Nor'easters (12-6, 5-1 TCCC) led from start-to-finish, picking up their sixth win in the last seven outings. The Pride fall to 9-9 overall and stand at 3-3 in conference play.

UNE came out of the break with a 26-20 advantage, and pushed the cushion to nine (34-25) just over four minutes into the second frame. The Pride responded with nine of the next 11 points to keep things close at 36-34.

An 11-4 stretch by the hosts -- capped by a three-pointer by sophomore Liz LeBlanc (Jay, Maine) -- restored the nine-point margin (47-38) with 6:36 to go.

Big Blue's lead was eight (51-43) under three minutes left, before Regis first-year Lauren Kimble (Orinda, Calif.) connected from long distance and then a pair of free throws dropped to make the difference three (51-48) with 2:08 on the clock.

After each side came up empty on their next two trips down the court, a Paradis layup with 47 seconds to play gave the momentum back to the home team and made the margin five (53-48). Classmate Margo Russell (Madison, Maine) put the match out of reach at the 29-second mark with a pair of freebies.

Paradis added six rebounds, four steals, and three blocks to her 16-point effort on the night. Sophomore Beth Suggs (Bath, Maine) chipped in with eight points and eight caroms. Russell tallied a team-high four assists for the Nor'easters, who out-scored their opponents 32-18 in the paint and registered 19 points off of Pride turnovers.

For Regis, sophomore Alex Chace (North Easton, Mass.) finished with nine points -- all from behind the arc -- and seven boards. Junior Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) also posted nine points, and first-year Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) went for eight points and seven rebounds. The visitors ended the game with a 38-34 edge in rebounding.

UNE hosts Western New England College on Saturday at 1 p.m., while the Pride return home for a contest against Wentworth Institute of Technology the same day (1 p.m.).
