LONGVIEW, TX - The Mississippi College women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 75-55 win over LeTourneau University on Thursday night in Solheim Arena.
The YellowJackets took a 21-12 lead with 9:06 remaining in the first half before the Lady Choctaws stormed back. MC went on a 28-7 run to end the half and take a 40-28 advantage at halftime.
LeTourneau cut the lead to as few as 10 points in the second half, but the Lady Choctaws took over, shooting 52% (14-27) in the second half.
MC was hot from the floor all night, going 30-55 (55%) from the floor and 7-11 (64%) from behind the three-point line. LeTourneau shot 44% (20-46) in the game and only 38%(8-21) in the second half.
The YellowJackets outrebounded MC, 33-22, on the night and pulled down 12 offensive boards.
Sophomore Traci Rodgers came off the bench to score 21 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor and 5-6 shooting from the three-point line. Senior Jalessa Taylor scored 21 points on 10-17 shooting. Senior Jennifer Wair was also in double-figures with 14 points.
Cait Collins led the way for LeTourneau with 13 points, while Jessica Manas and La'Queda Davis each finished with 10.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to face Texas-Tyler at 1:00 p.m.
