Eagles run past Blue Devils

With the score tied at 8-8 early in the game, UW-La Crosse went on an 11-2 run and never stopped running as they defeated UW-Stout, 82-36, Wednesday at Mitchell Hall.

The Eagles (14-5, 7-3) built up a 38-17 halftime lead, Stout (7-12, 2-8) got onlly as close as 23 points in the second half, and La Crosse held as much as a 47 point lead late in the game.

Stout started off well, jumping out to an 8-4 lead with four minutes gone on two baskets by Whitney Rawdon and a bucket apiece by Kayla Windt and Tricia VanVreede . Stout shot 25 percent in the first half, and got colder in the second half, shooting 22 percent for the game.

Stout got scoring from seven players, with VanVreede scoring 10 points to lead Stout. Sami Schoeder tossed in nine points.

La Crosse, by contrast, got at least one point by every player. Kassie Robinson came off the bench to score 26 points, hitting all 11 of her shots and had nine rebounds. Danielle Frank finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Alyssa Streck had 10 points.

Stout will be at UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Jan. 29, then will host UW-Stevens Point, Wednesday, Feb. 2.
