Steiner OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball senior Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) tied a school record with 10 blocks while adding 13 rebounds for her 12th career double double as the Mustangs fell at home to Alvernia Monday, 64-44 at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Steiner's fourth double double of the season and second-straight was the first in school history not in points and rebounds. Tanisha Foster also had 10 blocks in a 56-52 loss at Franklin & Marshall on Nov. 19, 2006.

As a team, Stevenson (1-16) also set an all-time record with 14 blocks, surpassing the old mark of 13 against Franklin & Marshall.

With 13 rebounds, Steiner became the third player in school history to surpass 700 for her career as she now has 708.

Steiner's performance was hampered by the fact that the Mustangs totaled a season-high 38 turnovers, including 20 in the first half as it fell behind by 10 at the half, 30-20. Despite the hardship, the two teams were tied at 20-20 with 3:59 remaining until the Crusaders closed the half on a 10-0 run, scoring six points off four turnovers.

Alvernia (11-7), who scored 26 of its 30 first half points in the paint and 16 off turnovers, stretched its lead to as many as 23 in the second half, scoring 14 points from the free throw line where it was 14-for-18.

Angela Altemose led the Crusaders with 18 points and 13 rebounds, both game-highs, and was 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Allie Toczylowski had 14 points and nine rebounds while Shanaye Glenn added 10 points and eight of the team's 26 steals.

Steiner added six points and five steals to go along with 13 rebounds and 10 blocks. Senior JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian) led Stevenson with 13 points and moved into 10th on the school's all-time scoring list with 544. She also had a career-high six rebounds.

Sophomore Rayshell Parker (Hanover/Meade) had 10 points.

The Mustangs travel to CAC rival Salisbury on Wednesday for the second of two meetings with the Sea Gulls. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. Salisbury rallied for a 68-60 overtime win at Owings Mills Gymnasium on November 23.
