Vincelette Repeats as GNAC Rookie of the Week

NEWTON, MA-  After averaging 24 points, three rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 55% from the floor, Kayla Vincelette (Westport, MA) repeated as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

 

Vincelette scored a game and season-high 29 points on Saturday against Emerson College, shooting 9-for-16 from the field, 3-of-7 from the arc and 8-of-11 from the line, while also adding six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.  Earlier in the week, also in GNAC play, the rookie guard eclipsed the 20-point mark once more, scoring 26 points at Albertus Magnus, while also contributing four steals and two assists.  Finally, against non-conference regional power Keene State, Vincelette recorded 17 points, two assists, and two steals.  She was the high-scorer in all three contests this week.

 

Vincelette is leading the Lasers this season with a 13.9 points-per-game average.  She is shooting 41.3% from the field for the year (85-206) and is also contributing 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.  She is ranked 9th in the GNAC in scoring, 11th in field goal percentage, and 9th in total minutes played this season.

 

Lasell's women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 29th when they travel to Saint Joseph College of Connecticut for a 1:00 p.m. game with the Blue Jays.
