PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Becky Dixon (Pittston, Maine) led a balanced offense as one of five players to score in double figures Wednesday evening as the University of Southern Maine defeated Plymouth State University, 76-62, in a Little East Conference women's basketball contest at Foley Gymnasium.

              Dixon finished with a team-high 17 points off the Husky bench while collecting a team-high nine rebounds.  Junior Courtney Cochran (Waite, Maine) added 15 points and senior Kaylie DeMillo (Jay, Maine) chipped in with 14 points and became the 19th player in the program's history to score 1,000 career points.  Sophomore Haley Jordan (Falmouth, Maine) and freshman Erin McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) contributed 10 points apiece for the Huskies, who improve to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in LEC games.

              Junior Alicia Doucet (Manchester, N.H./Central) led all players with 29 points and 11 rebounds for Plymouth State, her first double-double of the season. Sophomore Colleen O'Hara (Otego, N.Y.) added 13 points but the Panthers suffered their seventh straight loss and fell to 7-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

              Southern Maine took control of the game in the first half, opening up a double-digit lead (21-11) midway through the period.  The Husky lead got as high as 18 points (34-16) before PSU whittled the margin back down to 10 points at the half, 39-29.

              USM maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second half, leading by as much as 21 points (67-46) at the 10-minute mark.  PSU kept battling and got to within 13 points (69-56) with four minutes to go, but that's as close as the Panthers would get.

              Both teams are back on the court on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with another LEC game, PSU traveling to UMass Dartmouth and Southern Maine hosting Western Connecticut.
