The Carthage College women's basketball team (11-4, 2-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 26th in the Jan. 11 Women's Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division III poll and 32nd in the Jan. 11 "D3hoops.com" poll, trounced CCIW-opponent Augustana College (Ill., 4-11, 0-4 CCIW), 71-33, on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.

Carthage opened the game by scoring 17 unanswered points in the first seven minutes.  The Lady Reds continued to pull away and led by as much as 35 points in the first half, 43-8, at 2:03.  The Lady Reds led by 31 at the break, 43-12.  The Vikings managed to shoot just 18 percent in the first half (4-22), while Carthage connected at 52 percent clip (15-29), including seven-of-nine from three-point range.  The second half was more of the same, as Carthage maintained at least a 30-point lead for nearly all of the period.  The Lady Reds extended their lead to 40 points late in the period and won by 38, 71-33.

Carthage shot 42 percent (25-59), including eight-of-13 from three-point range, while Augustana shot just 22 percent (11-50), including two-of-16 three-pointers.  The Lady Reds out-rebounded the Vikings, 40-33.  Diana Jacklin (Jr., Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) and Heather Gilmore (Sr., Des Moines, Iowa/Pleasant Hill-Southeast Polk) each had 14 points for Carthage.  Jacklin connected on five-of-eight field goals, along with four-of-five free throws and six rebounds.  Gilmore connected on five-of-seven from the floor with five assists. 

Kristen Fox was the lone Augustana player in double figures with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds.  Carthage plays host to conference-opponent North Central College (5-10, 1-3 CCIW) on Tuesday, Jan. 18 in a 7:30 p.m. game at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
