Dolphins Cruise To Third Straight Win, Down Bard 64-33

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team eased to its third straight victory on Tuesday night with a 64-33 Skyline Conference win over Bard. Freshman Sarah Kluth (Lynbrook, N.Y.) led the Mount in scoring with 17 points and the Mount Saint Vincent defense allowed a season-low 33 points.

Mount Saint Vincent led wire-to-wire in the contest and used an 11-0 run to open the game to gain an advantage it would not let go. Bard did not get on the board until the 12:57 mark of the first half and was held to just eight points on 11.5-percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes.

Trailing 26-8 at the break, Bard got its deficit down to 13 points with 15:22 left in regulation time, but Mount Saint Vincent used a 24-7 run to open a 30 point edge with 6:24 left. The Dolphins gained their largest advantage of the game with just under three minutes left when freshman Kayla Giordano (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) knocked down one of the Mount's four triples of the contest.

Although Mount Saint Vincent shot just 37.5-percent in the contest, the defense held Bard to just 22-percent shooting on the night. The Dolphins also knocked in 12 free-throws to just six for the Raptors. Bard finished the night just 6-for-20 from the charity stripe.

Kluth finished the game 6-for-12 from the floor and also contributed four rebounds and three steals. She has now scored in double-figures seven straight games. Andree DeLeon (Flushing, N.Y.) finished the night with 11 points for the Dolphins and rounded out a strong night with seven boards, two steals, two blocks and a game-high five assists.

Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) continued her strong recent play with 10 more rebounds and also chipped in one of the Dolphins six blocked shots. In all ten players entered the scoring column for the Dolphins in the win.

Bard was paced by Latiqua Williams who netted 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Ruth Ashebir who totaled three points and a team-high four assists. In all Bard shot just 13-for-59 from the floor in the contest.

The win gives Mount Saint Vincent three straight and four in its last five overall to push it to 5-7 overall and 3-5 in Skyline play. The Dolphins will look to continue their hot streak on Thursday when they host St. Joseph's-L.I. Tip-off with the Golden Eagles is slated for 5:00 p.m.
