Fredericksburg, Va. – Sophomore guard Pui Sham (Springfield, Va./W. Springfield) and first-years Sophie Pruden (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill) and Raven Owens (Annapolis, Md./Severn) all tallied eight points as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team suffered a 65-42 setback at University of Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.

After St. Mary's (7-6, 3-2 CAC) knotted the game at 2-2 following a layup by senior forward Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie) at 18:59, Mary Washington's defense kept the Seahawks without a field goal for the next 18 minutes until Roberts ended the drought with a layup at 6:36.  Mary Washington held the Seahawks to just five field goals in the first half while the Eagles shot 51.5% from the field en route to a 37-16 halftime advantage.

Mary Washington (9-5, 5-1 CAC) opened up the second half with a 15-2 run to boast its biggest lead of 34 points at 13:37.  For the game, the Eagles out-rebounded St. Mary's, 41 to 29, while notching 25 points off the visitors' 24 turnovers.

Roberts and Pruden helped the Seahawks on the glass with five rebounds each while Roberts added seven points.  Sophomore guard Jasmine Jones (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) contributed six points and three assists.

Junior guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va./James Madison) paced Mary Washington with game-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds.

St. Mary's hopes to return to the win column Saturday afternoon when the Seahawks welcome conference newcomer, Frostburg State University, to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena for a league tilt at 2:00 pm.
