Baruch Bearcats Soar Past Hunter Hawks (73-43)

The women's basketball team defeated their rival Hunter College Hawks, 73-43, in a CUNYAC home contest on Friday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (10-3, 3-0 CUNYAC) used strong defense to limit the visiting Hawks (4-9, 2-2 CUNYAC) to 25 percent shooting (14-57), including a 3-for-16 stat from 3-point range.

Offensively, the Bearcats shot 46 percent (26-56), and led from start to finish to record the big conference victory on their home court.

Megan Bouwensled the way this evening with 13 points, while Jessica Duleba(eight rebounds) and Karyn Purcell(four steals) each scored 11 points. Camille Voitot(2-4, 3fg) and Maria Turner(seven rebounds) finished with eight points each.

Nicole Lenard led the Hawks with 16 points and four steals in playing 39 minutes of action.

The women's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday, January 12, with a 7:15 pm CUNYAC road contest at Lehman College in the Bronx.
