Cadets Open 2011 Schedule With 75-60 Win At Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Norwich University women's basketball team jump-started their 2011 schedule with a 75-60 victory over Clarkson University on Monday night. The win on the road advanced the Cadets to a 6-4 overall record, while the Golden Knights sit at 3-5 overall.

In her first game back with the Cadets, senior Laurel McWilliams led Norwich on the floor with 24 total points, shooting 8-of-12 on the night and making 13 boards. Classmate Christine Daniels, continues her double-double streak to six in a row, was close behind McWilliams with her 12 boards while shooting for 12 points.

The Cadets saw positive shooting action from other players as well, as sophomore Andrea Vogt shot for 16 points; 5-of-8 and 4-of-5 from the line, including sinking three 3-pointers. Classmate Jessalyn Sweeney also contributed with 11 points, sinking both attempted 3-pointers and putting up five boards. 

The team recorded one block on the Golden Knights by junior Kelsey Knapp, while Daniels made two steals and six assists. Freshman Kristin Brown also put up numbers for Norwich, as she tallied five assists and nine points and earned a steal during the course of action.

The Cadets have two more games on the road before returning home to Andrews Hall on Jan. 11 when they will host St. Joseph (Conn.) at 7 p.m. Their next game will be at instate-rival Lyndon State at 6 p.m. on Thursday, followed by a GNAC conference game versus Albertus Magnus at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
