Bulldogs Bottle the Thunder to Get First Conference Victory

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College women's basketball team rallied from nine points down at the half to win 48-41 Wednesday night over MIAA opponent Trine University. With the win the Bulldogs move to 4-7 overall on the season and 1-3 in the MIAA.

It was a game of two completely different half's for the Bulldogs. Adrian started slow in the first half scoring a season low 13 points for a half. The Bulldogs shot 23.8 from the field, 60 percent from the free throw line while going 0-for-4 from behind the arc. The second half for the Bulldogs was a complete 180, shooting 44.8 percent from the floor, 57 from behind the arc and 83 from the charity stripe. Adrian out-scored the Thunder 35-19 in the second half to rally for the victory.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Kayla Galecka (Ovid, Mich./Ovid-Elsie) who scored a career-high and team season-high 16 points shooting 5-of-7 from the field and going a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Galecka was one rebound short of a double-double pulling down a career-high nine boards to go along with five assists and three steals.  Junior Katie Ross (Clawson, Mich./Clawson) nailed three from downtown to make a season-high 14 points. Sophomore Rachael Walker (Warrensville Hts., Ohio/John F. Kennedy) pulled down a season-high nine rebounds while dishing out three assists, three steals and scoring two points. Fellow sophomore Jasmine Byers (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) put in four points. Junior Kellee Wonders (Pittsford, Mich./Hudson) added in four points while grabbing five boards.

The Bulldogs will look to make it four-in-a-row when they travel to the #2 ranked Hope College on Saturday, January 8 for a 3:00 p.m. start.
