CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College won their 11th straight game to open the 2010-11 season with a 70-43 win over Hendrix on Thursday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum. The Lady Choctaws had four players in double-figures in the final game of 2010.
The Warriors stayed in the game in the first half, only trailing by eight points, 31-23. The Lady Choctaws forced 32 turnovers in the game and took over in the second half, outscoring Hendrix, 39-20.
Sophomore Valeri Stewart led MC with 15 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor. Freshman Madeleine Roberts tallied 13 points off the bench. Seniors Jalessa Taylor and Jennifer Wair finished in double-figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Samantha Devlin was the only player in double-figures for Hendrix with 15 points, making all seven of her free throw attempts. Anna Roane tallied nine points and nine rebounds as Hendrix outrebounded MC, 38-35.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on January 6th at 5:30 p.m. when they travel to Abilene, TX to face McMurry.
