Four players scored in double figures, as the Saint Vincent women's basketball team led for the entire 40 minutes in its 74-52 victory over Randolph Macon in the finale of the Daytona Beach Shootout, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.

Emily Fenton led the Bearcats with 18 points, including a 4-for-5 mark from behind the three-point line, while teammate Devin McGrath posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  Brittany Sedlock added 12 points and Ariel Rocco 10, as the Bearcats improved to 9-1 on the year to match the 1999-2000 squad for the best start to a season in program history.

McGrath took control early on for the Bearcats, as she scored six of the team's first 11 points en-route to an 11-4 lead six minutes into play.  Three minutes later, a three pointer from Fenton pushed the SVC advantage to 19-4, before Rocco capped off a 14-0 Bearcat run with a lay up at the 9:41 mark of the half to make the score 23-4 in favor of the Bearcats.

The Bearcats would enjoy their largest lead of the half, 34-11, on a McGrath lay up with 6:05 left in the opening stanza, The Bearcats would eventually take a 49-29 lead into halftime.

Over the opening 20 minutes, the Bearcats forced 21 Yellow Jacket turnovers and tallied 13 steals, with four coming from McGrath.

The teams shared buckets over the opening minutes of the second half, before a pair of Sedlock free throws with just under nine minutes left in regulation completed a 12-5 SVC run to make the score 62-39.  The Yellow Jackets would eventually close the gap to 14, 64-50, with six minutes left to play, but the Bearcats would outscore Randolph Macon 10-2 over the closing minutes to seal the 22-point win.

In addition to her 18 points, Fenton also added a team-high four assists, as the Bearcats posted helpers on 16 of 24 baskets.  McGrath and Sedlock each added three assists apiece.  The Bearcats forced a total of 30 turnovers, while committing just 18, as McGrath picked up a game-high six steals.  Saint Vincent also owned a 46-42 rebounding advantage, and took advantage of a number of Yellow Jacket fouls, as the Bearcats went 21-for-27 from the foul line, compared to an 8-for-11 mark from Randolph Macon. 

Randolph Macon (5-4) was led on the scoresheet by Maggie Roy, who posted 20 points, while Taylor Wieczorek recorded the double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.  

Saint Vincent will now have a two-week layoff before returning to action on January 3rd, traveling to Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Washington & Jefferson for an 8pm tip.
