Maroons Defeat MSOE 76-62

MILWAUKEE -- Led by Taylor Simpson's 16 points, the University of Chicago women's basketball team defeated host Milwaukee School of Engineering 76-62 in non-conference play Thursday evening.

Chicago (6-3) fell behind 16-11 as MSOE's Kathy Collingbourne scored eight of her game-high 18 points during the game's first seven minutes.

The Maroons then scored the game's next 19 points to take a 30-16 lead before building a 39-23 advantage by halftime.

Chicago led by as many as 20 points in the second half. MSOE (4-5) cut the gap to nine points, 59-50, with 6:56 remaining in the contest, but the Maroons closed out the game on a 17-6 run.

Meghan Herrick scored 10 points for the Maroons to go along with six assists and six steals.

En route to its second straight win, Chicago outshot the Raiders 50% to 43% and forced 31 MSOE turnovers.

Carol Cayo tallied 15 points for the Raiders.
