Diplomats Win Second Straight

LANCASTER, Pa – Franklin & Marshall won its second straight game with a 66-53 win over Gettysburg Wednesday in a Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball game. The victory marks the Diplomats first winning streak this season. F&M improved to 3-1 CC, 4-3 overall while the Bullets fell to 1-3, 4-3.

The game was tied four times in the first 10:15 of the game before Gettysburg went ahead 15-14 after Mary Spicer converted a pair of free throws. The Diplomats answered when Allison Bauer hit a three, and Alison Menna and Megan Pauley each connected on a pair of free throws, to give F&M a 21-15 lead with 9:02 left in the first. The Diplomats took a 30-21 advantage with 1:51 left in the first before the Bullets knocked in six unanswered points to make it 30-27 at the break.

F&M built a 15 point lead in the second half before Gettysburg chipped away to get within six, 46-40, with 10:41 left in the game. The Diplomats responded with a 9-2 lead to go up 57-42 with 4:55 left in the game. Amy Chabitnoy connected on a pair of jumpers in the run while Bauer hit a layup, Alison Menna a free throw and Colleen Bott a jumper to give F&M another 15 point lead.

Pauley netted a game-high 23 points for the Diplomats and added eight rebounds. Pauley went 8-of-15 from the field, including a pair of treys, and 5-of-6 from the line. Bauer scored a season-high 15 points and Bott hit a season-high with 10 points.

Alexa Barbush grabbed a career-high nine rebounds for the Diplomats and added seven points with six assists. Menna recorded nine boards and Chabitnoy chipped in with eight points. Sara Kinsley led the Bullets with 10 points.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action Saturday 2 p.m. at the Mayser Center against Haverford in the first game of a double-header.
