NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich Cadets, coming off a championship weekend at the Annual Ed Hockenbury Classic, defeated the Badgers of Johnson State College 75 – 44 on Tuesday evening in Andrews Hall.

Senior captain Christine Daniels recorded her third double-double in as many games, finishing against the Badgers with 21 points and 20 rebounds. She shot 5-of-6 from the line, 8-of-16 for total field goals, and was credited with two assists.

Classmate Karissa Doyon was also a key contributor to the action, following shortly behind Daniels with 19 points. Doyon put her effort into making an additional seven steals, three assists and three boards.

The Badgers, who had four players riding the bench due to injuries and sickness, had nine players working the court, trying to hold off the Cadets. Sophomore Jen Ferrari was the key player in the game for Johnson, leading the team in three categories with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

Junior Andrea Deuell and senior Kristine Tatro rounded out the scoring with eight points apiece, each tallying a steal, as Deuell was also credited with one assist.

The Badgers jumped to an early 3-0 lead at the start of the game, but were tied up at 7-all with 12:47 remaining in the first half. The low scoring game quickly took a turn as the Cadets took the lead and held Johnson scoreless for six minutes. Norwich led 38-21 at the half and never gave up their advantage, keeping the margin to a 20 or more difference for the entire second half.

The Cadets will be on the road on Thursday, traveling to Southern Vermont for a 6 p.m. game. They will return home to host Castleton on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. for their final game of the 2010 calendar.
