Women's Basketball: Cadets Advance Winning Streak; Defeat Southern Vt., 81-59

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Norwich Cadets advanced their season to a four-game winning streak after defeating Southern Vermont, 81-59, on the Mountaineers' court Thursday night.

Norwich (5-3) was led by senior captain Christine Daniels' fourth double-double in as many games. Daniels tallied 18 points and 12 boards on the night, 11 rebounds of which came on the Cadets' defensive end. Daniels also made three steals, and one block on the Mountaineers' offense, while earning credit for one assist.

Classmate Karissa Doyon again led the Cadets in points with 25, going 8-of-16 in shooting and sinking 8-of-9 baskets from the free-throw line. Doyon made a team-high seven steals and earned two assists on the night.

Norwich junior forward Jocelyn Fasulo came in with 10 points, shooting 4-of-9 in the game, making seven boards and a game-high six blocks.

The Cadets had a 34-22 advantage over the Mountaineers at halftime and never surrendered their lead for the remainder of the game, giving them their fourth-straight win of the season.

Norwich will host Castleton State College on Monday in Andrews Hall for their final game of the 2010 calendar. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
