Yellowjackets Drop A Tough One At Platteville

Coming off a tough loss to River Falls on Wednesday, the Yellowjacket women's basketball team continued their play on the road, taking to the floor at the Bo Ryan Court in Platteville.  The 'Jackets opened the scoring and held a couple of leads, including a one-point edge with under six minutes to play in the first half, but a 17-7 run to close the half provded to be too much to overcome and the Yellowjackets fell, 82-74 to the Pioneers.

had a big offensive game, scoring 24 points to lead the Yellowjackets.  She was one of three players to hit in double figures for the game, as Connie Urmanksi (Edgar, Wis.) had 19 points and Bri Davis (Hermantown, Minn.) had 11 points for the Yellowjackets.

Hart and Davis were huge in the first half, accounting for 21 of 33 points, as the Yellowjackets shot 12-30 (40%) from the field.  The 'Jackets fell behind by as many as nine points in the first half.  Trailing 19-10, the Yellowjackets went on a 17-6, which featured points from eight points from Hart, five from Kelsey Thingvold (Crystal, Minn.) and four from Davis, vaulted the Yellowjackets into the lead at 26-25.  The Pioneers would answer with a run of their own, however, and lead by ten, 43-33, at halftime.

In the second half, the Pioneers would stretch the lead to 12 points early, but the Yellowjackets would again battle back, shaving the margin to as little as three points.  Hart was great in the second half, scoring 13 points, going 5-8 from the field.  But as good as she was, Urmanski was better, dropping in 17 of her 19 points shooting 75% from the field and hitting on 5-6 from three-point range. 

Urmanksi also lead the team with eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Liz Lawinger led the Pioneers with 18 points and was one of four players to score in double figures.
