Rams Top Lasell Women's Hoops

NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College women's basketball team was defeated in today's non-conference matchup against Framingham State University, 59-42.  

Lasell senior Katie Farr (Rindge, NH) led all scorers with 13 points.  Farr went 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-8 from three-point territory.  Freshman Kayla Vincelette (Westport, MA) added 11 points to the board, and sophomore Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) picked up her first career double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.  Slattery went 4-for-7 from the free throw line. 

The Lasers held the lead (15-14) with 9:37 remaining in the first half, but a 13-4 run by Framingham boosted the Rams to a 28-18 lead.  Slattery's pair of free throws, pulled Lasell to within 8 and ended the half at 28-20, in favor of the hosting Rams. 

The Rams were led by junior Emily Clark (Melrose, MA) with 12 points and nine boards.  Freshman Amy Connolly (Milton, MA) produced her second double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Jill Johnson (Marshfield, MA) added 10.

Lasell never regained control of the lead in the second half during which time Framingham shot 46% from the floor, extending their lead to as many as 22 points. The Rams defense forced 21 Lasell turnovers which they converted into 19 points, while the Lasers scored just nine points off of the Rams 13 miscues. 

The loss leaves Lasell at a record of 0-6, while Framingham improves to 5-1.  The Lasers return to action on Thursday, December 7th against Gordon College in the Lasell College Athletic Center, at 7:00 p.m.
