Warhawks run past Blue Devils

Sami Schoeder scored a collegiate-high 20 points, but the UW-Stout Blue Devils fell short of UW-Whitewater, 83-64, Saturday evening at Johnson Fieldhouse.

Schoeder shot 6-of-12 from the field, including two three pointers.  She also added seven rebounds, one shy of the game high. 

Whitewater (5-1, 2-0 WIAC), who came into the game ranked 23rd, took a 10-9 lead four minutes into the game, and never looked back.  The Warhawks took that lead during a 12-0 run that ended with an 18-9 margin over Stout (3-5, 0-2 WIAC). 

About seven minutes later, Whitewater reeled off a 10-0 run, part of a 16-2 run that put them up by 18 with five minutes to play in the first.  Stout battled back at the end of the half, including a desparation three pointer at the buzzer by Kimmy Keehr, and looked at a 38-27 deficit at halftime.

The Warhawks used the first part of the second half to increase their lead to 26 points, sealing the victory.  Stout was never able to cut their deficit to less than 16 the rest of the game. 

Whitney Rawdon led all players with eight rebounds.  Kayla Windt shot 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and finished with 11 points.  Whitewater's Dana Thompson led her team with 14 points and six rebounds.
