BROOKLYN, NY – St. Joseph's never trailed in the game, but that doesn't mean the Lady Bears had an easy time with the Eastern Nazarene Lady Lions. Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep), who had a team high 18 points, was 4-4 on her free throw attempts with under 20 seconds to play to seal the 79-75 victory for St. Joseph's. The Lady Bears evened their record at 2-2 with the win.

With just over two minutes left, St. Joseph's had an 11 point advantage, but Eastern Nazarene quickly closed that gap with three pointers by Ace Carradine and Julianne Atwater. The Lady Lions were forced to foul, so the Lady Bears put the ball in the hands of their best free throw shooter, McQuillan, to put the game out of reach. McQuillan was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe in the second half and hit all four attempts down the stretch. The Lady Bears finished 15-20 from the line and were 9-11 in the second half.

The Lady Bears had a multiple possession lead for much of the game before the final minute. Teresa Mangan (Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph's) helped St. Joseph's get off to a quick start, scoring nine of her 13 points in the first half.

St. Joseph's made the most of their opportunities, scoring 25 points off of 32 Lady Lion turnovers. Junior Kristin Binckes (Brooklyn, NY/St. Savior) led the game with five steals. She also finished second on the team with five rebounds and scored a season high nine points.

Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch) helped the Lady Bears on the glass, pulling down a career high 14 rebounds, 12 on the defensive end, and freshman Megan Moran (Syosset, NY/St. Dominic's) had the first double digit point effort of her young career, scoring ten.

Eastern Nazarene had four girls in double figures, led by Carradine's 21. Shardae Brown finished with a double-double, scoring 13 and grabbing a game high 19 boards.

The Lady Bears look to make it three in a row Thursday, December 2nd for their first HVWAC battle at Yeshiva. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
