Monique Salmon scored 18 second-half points to lead the Baruch Bearcats to a 79-66 non-conference road victory over the Violets of NYU on Saturday afternoon at the Coles Sports Center in Greenwich Village.

The visiting Bearcats (5-2) trailed 55-54 with 7:24 remaining, but exploded with a 25-11 run the rest of the regulation to record their fifth victory in six all-time meetings between the two teams.

The Violets (4-2) led at halftime, 32-29, as they shot 38 percent (12-32) from the field, while the Bearcats shot only 29 percent (12-41).

During the second half, the Bearcats shot 55 percent (16-29), and finished the game strong in the 25-11 run by connecting on seven of their last 10 field goal attempts and 11-of-13 free throws to notch their fifth victory of the season.

Salmon finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Folashade Akinde totaled 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Megan Bouwens had another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. In addition, between her current point total at Baruch (517 pts) and previous school Adrian College in Michigan (485 pts), Megan went over the prestigious one thousand point milestone with 1,002 current intercollegiate points.

Jessica Deluba rounded out the double-digits scorers with 10 points and six rebounds. Regina Washington (two blocks) and Camille Voitot (2-4 3fg) each finished with nine points.

Bianca Storts led NYU from the University Athletic Association (UAA) in the scoring column with 21 points, including 16 in the first half. Chelsea Blake scored 11 points and dished out five assists.
