Women's Basketball Downs Rosemont College, 58-48

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team claimed its second straight road victory on Saturday aftrernoon, posting a 58-48 victory at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Rosemont College. Freshman guard Brittany Sandone led all Cavaliers with a game-high 12 points in the victory.

Sandone shot 4-for-10 from the field overall, including two 3-point field goals. She dished four assists and grabbed three rebounds.

Senior guard Julie Bonomo also reached double figures, pairing 11 points with a career-high seven rebounds. Bonomo knocked down 2-of-6 3-point field goal attempts.

Freshman guard Amanda Cundari and freshman forward Annie Rivituso each contributed eight points for the Blue & White. Freshman forward Maggie McElroy chipped in seven points and a team-best eight rebounds.

Cabrini struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first half, shooting just under 20 percent from the field, but remained tied with the Ravens, 24-24, at the intermission. Sandone led the Cavaliers' charge during the opening 20 minutes, scoring six points.

The Blue & White opened the second half on an 11-4 run, securing a seven-point cushion, 35-28, at the 15:22 mark. A 3-point basket from McElroy capped the Cavaliers' spurt out of the locker room.

After Rosemont scored six unanswered points to pull within one, Cabrini responded with a 16-2 surge that supplied the visitors with a 51-36 lead with six minutes remaining. The Cavaliers' drained three 3-point field goals and received six points from Rivituso on the decisive run.

The Ravens trimmed its deficit to seven points, 53-46, after a triple from Katharine Reppert. However, Cabrini sunk five free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory.

Karen Boyle and Ashley Montecchio each scored 11 points in the loss for Rosemont. Montecchio, Christa Bednarek and Vanessa Johnson each collected eight rebounds.

Cabrini (2-4, 2-1) is idle for the next 11 days before a trip to the University of Scranton on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Game time versus the Lady Royals is set for 5:30 p.m.
