Lady Hawks Pick Up First Win of the Season, 51-37, Against Pensacola Christian

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Huntingdon College women's basketball team won its first game of the season, 51-37, against Pensacola Christian College on Tuesday evening. The Lady Hawks came back after trailing 19-12 at the half and won by 14 points.
 
The Lady Hawks outscored the Lady Eagles 39-18 in the second half for the victory. Huntingdon's bench contributed 22 points to Pensacola Christian's 7.
 
Leading the way for the Lady Hawks was Kayla Northington, who scored 10 points, while LaTerial Williams and LaTarial Williams added 8 and 7 points, respectively. Ashton Salter paced the Lady Hawks with 9 rebounds and 6 steals, followed by Chalise Hopkins with seven boards in the win.
 
For the game, both teams finished with 40 rebounds each. Huntingdon converted 28.3 percent of its shots, hitting 17-of-60, while the Lady Eagles finished 14-of-61 (23 percent).
 
The Lady Eagles (0-11) were led by Elizabeth Marino with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
 
The Lady Hawks' (1-1) next game is against Salem on Saturday, Dec. 4, in Roland Arena. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
 
Huntingdon will host a double-header on Thursday, Dec. 2, against Oakwood. The Lady Hawks' junior varsity team will start the double-header at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Huntingdon men's varsity team at 7:30 p.m. in Roland Arena.
