Cayo's career-high 33 points puts MSOE women's basketball past Eureka in season opener

Behind a career-high 33 points from junior Carol Cayo, the Raiders knocked off Eureka 69-55 in the team's season opener. Cayo also pulled down 13 rebounds for a double-double. She went 13-17 from the field and 7-11 from the free-throw line.

Junior Marguerite Wellstein, sophomore Cate Scholfield and freshman Shannon Larson each scored nine points for MSOE. Scholfield also pulled down eight rebounds while junior Kathleen Collingbourne logged five assists. The Raiders started the game on a 16-2 run and only had their lead cut to single digits once for the rest of the game.

MSOE (1-0) faces Lake Forest Wednesday night on the road at 7 p.m.
