The Dominican University women's basketball moved to 4-1 on the season, topping the CalTech Beavers 71-50 on Sunday afternoon. The win was the Stars' fourth consecutive victory, the program's first four-game winning streak since closing out the 2007-2008 season with four wins in a row.
The Beavers opened the game on a 7-2 run, capped by a jumper by junior Krissy Dahl. Dominican answered as Magdalena Kaminska (Orland Park, Ill.) scored six straight for the Stars to spark a 10-0 run to put Dominican ahead for good, 12-7.
The Stars were led by junior Sarah Budz (Orland Park, Ill.), who posted 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block in the winning effort. Budz was 5-for-8 from the field, going 3-for-4 from three-point distance, in 32 minutes of work.
Becky Christofferson (Summit, S.D.) scored 12 points while Kaminska and Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) added 9 points apiece.
Dominican shot over 41-percent from the field, going 27-for-65 while holding the Beavers to 37-percent shooting (20-for-54).
Dominican will return home and open Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Wednesday, hosting neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in the Stars' Igini Sports Forum.
