ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Jen Mocanu (Belford, N.J.) scored a game-high 26 points as Mount Saint Mary College salvaged a trip to Rochester with 73-59 defeat of Ithaca College in the consolation game of the Chuck Resler Tournament. The Knights are now 2-1, while the Bombers fell to 1-2.

After trailing by as many as six in the first half, the Mount closed the opening twenty minutes with an 8-0 run. Junior Amanda Horvers (Kingston, N.Y.) capped the spurt with a three-pointer near the buzzer.

Out of the gates in the second, Ithaca crept to within two, thanks to a triple from junior Riley Dunn (Bradford, Mass.) and a bucket from sophomore Devin Shea (Huntington Valley, Pa.). It would be as close as the Bombers would get, however, as the Mount pushed their lead to twelve with a 16-6 run. The Knights would push it to as many as 17 down the stretch and eased to the 14-point win.

Mocanu led all scorers with 26 points on 11-of-20 from the field. The junior also chipped in a team-high seven rebounds. Horvers finished with 12 points, while senior Jess Tice (Altamont, N.Y.) connected on 8-of-9 from the foul line to wind up with 10 points.

Senior Jane DeBiasse (Chatham, N.J.) paced the Bombers with 12 points. Shea was the only other player to break into double figures with 11. Ithaca shot just 33.3-percent from the floor.

The Knights return to action following the holiday and they'll host the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Skyline Conference opener. The tip is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Center on Tuesday, November 30.
