Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team dropped its season opener 86-64 to visiting Randolph-Macon on Tuesday night.  Playing with a shorthanded squad, four of the Saints' six active players scored in double-figures.

Senior Amanda Billy paced the Saints (0-1) with 18 points while Jackie Bohenek added 17, Maame Amponsah chipped in 11 and Tajia Johnson had 10.  Amponsah also record a double-double with an impressive 17 rebounds to lead all players.

Marymount led for the majority of the first half, going up by as much as nine at the 7:46 mark on a pair of free throws by Billy.  The Yellow Jackets (1-0) would slowly chip away at the Saints lead, finally pulling ahead with just over three minutes to play in the half.  After regaining the lead, the Saints would surrender an 11-2 run to R-MC to go into the break down 37-29.

Randolph-Macon would push its lead to double-digits on the opening possession of the half and not let the Saints pull within five the rest of the way before closing out the contest on the charity stripe.

Jordan Cantrell shared game-high scoring honors with Billy with 18 points off the bench while Katie Williams and Maggie Roy both added 14 and Lindsey Sharman chipped in 10 as a reserve.

Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it hosts the MU-Marine Corps Tip-Off.  The Saints take on Neumann at 7:30 p.m.
