The team honored seniors, Braxton Benham, Jacob Morgan, and Parker Godwin for their contributions to the Berry Community in their time as Vikings.
Benham made history with his 25 point-performance today, as he became the All-Time Leading Scorer in Berry Men's Basketball D3 history with 1,348 career points. The accomplishment forever etches Braxton's name in stone as one of the greats to ever wear Viking navy and white.
Benham was paced by his fellow seniors, Jacob Morgan and Parker Godwin, who had 16 points and 12 points respectively. Drew Winegarden also had a big game as he poured in 14 points while shooting 4/6 from beyond the arc.
Things got going for the Vikings with Benham driving baseline and finishing at the rim to start the in the early goings. A few plays later, Morgan found an open Godwin, who sank a three-pointer to give Berry a 5-2 lead with 18:30 to play in the first half. The seniors continued to torch the scoreboard when Morgan found himself open for back-to back three-pointers, making the score 11-2 with 17 minutes left in the half.
Millsaps responded with a 9-0 run that tied the score with 13:48 left in the first period. The Vikings did not blink though, as Benham calmly navigated the Millsaps defense to find Drew Winegarden who pulled up for another three-pointer to give Berry a three-point lead.
The Vikings proceeded to open up a 12-2 run that was capped off by a Godwin jump shot, leaving the home squad with a 23-13 lead with 9:25 left in the half. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch of the half, leaving Berry with a 40-29 lead at the half.
A 15-8 run for Berry to open up the second half proved to be the difference in the game as the team shared the ball flawlessly to gain an 18-point advantage with 16:32 left to play. Millsaps would claw their way back into the game, cutting the Berry lead to just 11 with 8:25 to play in the half. Benham was having none of it though, as he jumped a passing lane and took it coast-to-coast for a seemingly poetic dunk that cemented his name in history while giving Berry a 74-60 lead with 7:45 to play.

Benham was not done there though, as he attacked the defense, rebounded his own miss, and tipped it in to push the lead to 16 points. Berry would put the cherry on top when Nile King received a pass from Isaac Martin and dished it swiftly out to Morgan, who buried a three-pointer to put the game out of reach. Solid free-throw shooting and ball control down the stretch helped the Vikings prevail in impressive fashion by a final of 89-72.
The Vikings now set their sights on another SAA Championship as they will host the tournament, beginning on February 28.
