MADISON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Graduate Jacob Stoltz (Kewaskum, Wis.) scored a season-high 30 points and No. 7 Wisconsin Lutheran College bounced back from just its second loss of the season with a 107-83 rout over Edgewood on Saturday at Todd Wehr Edgedome.
The Warriors (21-2, 14-2 NACC), who shot at least 50 percent for the seventh time this season, committed a season-low three turnovers and surpassed 100 points for the second time this year.
WLC scored the first eight points of the contest, half of which came from a four-point play by graduate Jacob Hefle (Germantown, Wis.). The Eagles cut their deficit to five before a 10-0 scoring run, including seven from graduate Ryan Broeckel (Chilton, Wis.), gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 25-10 lead with 12:44 remaining in the first half. A 6-2 EC spurt was quickly erased with a 6-0 run from the Warriors putting them ahead 33-16 with 10 minutes left in the opening half. Both teams continued to exchange buckets before an 11-4 Edgewood scoring run late in the half cut its deficit to just five, 48-43, with 1:30 to play until the break. WLC finished the half on a 7-0 run to extend its lead back to double figures, 55-43, as Hefle buried a three shortly before the buzzer sounded.
The two teams exchanged scores coming out of the second half, before a 12-3 run, led by six points from Stoltz, gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 70-49 advantage with 13 minutes remaining. The Warriors maintained at least a 20-point lead for the remainder of the contest. Senior Carson Robaidek (Bonduel, Wis.), who scored all eight of his points in the final 2:29, gave WLC a game-high 29-point lead with a three-pointer at the one-minute mark.
Stotlz scored a season-high 30 points, including a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. Broeckel finished with 19 points, while junior Ja'Quell Chisom (Milwaukee, Wis.) chipped in 10. Senior AJ Vos (Lombard, Ill.) stuffed the box score with 10 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and five steals. WLC shot 50.8 percent (33-for-65) from the floor and 75.6 percent (34-for-45) from the free throw line. Wisconsin Lutheran outscored the Eagles 17-2 on points off turnovers.
Matt Kirk scored 29 points off the bench for EC (4-20, 3-14 NACC), which shot 48.6 percent (29-for-62) from the floor.
