Hope rolls at Alma, pushes win streak to four games

The Hope College men's basketball team brought its A game on the road again.

The Flying Dutchmen earned a 77-54 victory at Alma College on Saturday by shooting over 52% from the field for the second consecutive road game.

In the midst of a three-game road stand, Hope stretched its winning streak to four games and improved to 13-10 overall (8-4 in MIAA play).

The Flying Dutchmen are firmly in third place in the MIAA standings, two games ahead of fourth-place The University of Olivet with two games remaining. Olivet lost to Trine University on Saturday, keeping the second-place Thunders two games ahead of Hope.

The Flying Dutch will play its next game at Olivet on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 8 p.m..

Against Alma, junior guard Marcus Wourman (East Lansing, Michigan / East Lansing HS) led a balanced attack with 13 points, including two of the Flying Dutchmen's seven 3-pointers.

Hope shot 52.6% from the field (30-57) following a 56.1% effort during an 80-57 victory at Adrian College on Wednesday.

Senior center Gabe Quillan (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) and sophomore forward Parker Hovey (Shelby, Michigan / Hart) chipped in 10 points apiece against the Scots (1-22, 1-11 MIAA). 

Quillan also contributed game-highs in rebounds with nine and blocks with three.

Hovey shot 100% from the field (4-4) while also recording a game-high four steals. 

The Flying Dutchmen also received nine points apiece from junior guard Ethan Crabtree (Coldwater, Michigan / Coldwater) and freshman forward Charles Howell (Cadillac, Michigan / Cadillac). Both finished with season-highs.

Hope jumped out to a 43-28 halftime lead. The Flying Dutchmen led for all but a 52-second span early in the first half.

Aidan Judsen topped Alma with 11 points.
