William Paterson Men's Basketball Falls at Kean

UNION, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-17, 2-14 NJAC) fell, 98-67, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game to Kean (13-10, 11-5 NJAC) Feb. 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Kean wasted no time, shooting 12-for-18 (.667) from the field and 5-for-7 (.714) from deep to build a 20-point lead (33-13) with 10:01 left to play in the first half.
  • Despite the Pioneers outscoring the Cougars, 23-11, over the final 7:31 of regulation, the deficit proved to be too large to overcome and Kean earned the home win.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior Neftali Valentin shot 9-of-18 (.500) from the floor for a game-high 27 points while adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • Senior David Martinez logged a nine-point performance with five boards.
  • Freshman Delani Hyde had six points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

UP NEXT:

  • William Paterson will square off against Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3:00 p.m. in a road conference game.
