GALESBURG, Ill. - A team familiar with making big runs, Grinnell College's men's basketball squad used that same formula again Tuesday night while drubbing Knox College 107-88.

The victory snapped Grinnell's two-game losing streak and put the Pioneers at 7-3 in the Midwest Conference, good for a second-place tie and just one game behind league leader Monmouth College.

The Pioneers, who are 14-5 overall, led by one point with 5:42 remaining in the first half before erupting with a 27-7 run over the next four minutes to take control. Grinnell was ahead 29-28 before scoring eight consecutive points as Nick Lundy '27 made a layup, Kai Te Huki '27 followed with a 3-pointer and layup and Jackson Leone '25 hit a free throw for a 37-28 lead.

Knox closed within 42-35, only to see the Pioneers score 14 in a row as Jordan Lee '27 made a 3-pointer, Nick Courtney '26 drove for consecutive layups, Harris Dar '28 cashed in on a layup and Max DeGeorge '25 had a 3-pointer and layup for a 56-35 lead with 1:47 to go.

The Pioneers went on to lead 60-43 at halftime and cruised after that for their fourth victory in a row over the Prairie Fire, who fell to 1-8 in the MWC and 4-14 overall.

Gabe Garcia '27 led Grinnell with 20 points, while Dar added 18. John Vincent '26 poured in 14 points and Te Huki and Sean Murphy '26 were also in double digits with 11 apiece.

Vincent and Tolu Johnson '25 each had six rebounds, Dar dished out four assists, Courtney came up with five steals and Leone tallied four. As a team, Grinnell had 26 steals while forcing 32 overall turnovers. Johnson also blocked two shots.

Leone moved up to 15th all-time at Grinnell with 131 career steals, while Johnson ranks 18th in rebounds with 432.

Grinnell begins a three-game homestand Saturday with a contest against defending MWC champ Illinois College, the team tied with Grinnell for second place in the conference. Tip-off at Darby Gymnasium is 3 p.m.
