WAYNE, N.J. – Despite a career afternoon from senior Neftali Valentin, the William Paterson men's basketball team (5-13, 1-10 NJAC) was unable to overcome a large deficit and ultimately fell, 78-66, to #RV Stockton (13-5, 8-3 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Jan. 25 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pioneers trailed by 25 (34-9) with eight minutes left in the first half before Valentin scored 12 points over nearly five minutes of action as part of a 14-0 run to pull WP within 11 (34-23).
  • The Ospreys maintained their double-digit advantage until a three from Valentin with 15:24 left to play made it a nine-point game (47-38).
  • Stockton built its lead to 16 (62-46) with 6:46 on the clock before WP responded with a 10-3 run to pull back to within nine (65-56).
  • That would be as close as the Pioneers would get as the Ospreys held on for the 78-66 road win.
