The Short story: The Roanoke College men's basketball team surged to a 21-2 lead to open the game and never looked back in a 98-66 win at Ferrum College Wednesday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest.

The Maroons remain in first place in the ODAC ahead of a showdown Saturday with nationally-ranked Randolph-Macon College, just a half a game behind RC in the league standings. Roanoke sits just two spots outside this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 poll.

How it happened:  
*The Maroons led 52-24 at intermission, shooting 55.6 percent (20-36) in the game's first 20 minutes while holding the Panthers to just 25 percent from the floor (8-32).
*Ferrum chipped away at the lead, starting the second half on a 13-10 run. But Roanoke scored the next 12 points to put the game out of reach.  

Inside the numbers:
*Joshua Morse netted a game-high 18 points.
*Jackson Bell posted 15 points with a team-best seven rebounds.
*Joshua McClary finished with 14 points, seven assists and five boards.
*Marcus Morgan tallied 14 points and six rebounds.
*Clayton Gaither scored seven points and Gavin O'Malley, Grant Hamilton and Porter Stanley each finished with six as 13 Maroons got in the scoring column.
*Alfredo Abel-Rivera led Ferrum (12-5/4-4) with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Up Next:
*The Maroons (14-3/8-1 ODAC) host Randolph-Macon College Saturday at 2 p.m.
