Senior guard Henry Hinkle sank a 3-pointer with 3:09 left in the game to give Ohio Wesleyan its first lead of the evening, but Wabash answered with an 8-0 run that helped the Little Giants secure a 78-70 North Coast Atlantic Conference win on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Wabash opened the game with a 9-0 run, but junior guard Issac Ward and senior post Phil Wallace battled back with a 3-pointer each to put the Bishops on the board.

The Little Giants steadily built their lead, staying ahead by 10 points in the middle of the first half.  Two layups by fifth-year post Tony Carter and a pair of 3-pointers from Hinkle and Wallace narrowed the deficit to just one point.

Freshman wing Jake Lowman kicked off the scoring for the Bishops in the second half, sinking a 3-pointer to pull them closer.

Wabash extended the lead to 66-60 on a Randy Kelley free throw with 4:42 remaining, but Ohio Wesleyan scored the next 8 points, with a 3-pointer by junior wing Jessee Battle before a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer by Hinkle put the Bishops ahead, 68-66.

The visitors countered with a 10-0 run that included a go-ahead 3-pointer by Gavin Schippert and a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws from Vinny Buccilla to take a 76-68 lead with less than a minute to play.

Hinkle led Ohio Wesleyan with 18 points.  Battle added 14 points and a career-high 7 assists while Ward and Carter each had 12 points to their name.
