A 41-point victory for the Colorado College men's basketball team is the largest for the program in over 21 years. The Tigers routed Texas Lutheran by a final score of 97-56 in Seguin, Texas.

Sunday marks the greatest margin of victory for the Tigers since they defeated Caltech 99-33 on Nov. 30, 2003.

It's also the most points scored in a game for CC since it put up 99 against the University of Dallas on Dec. 31, 2021.

Five players scored in double-digitsig, led by junior Asher Nofziger with 18 points, nine rebounds, a season-hgih seven assists, and a steal. CC finished 21-25 from the free throw line.

"Today our guys were great," Head coach Jeff Conarroe said. "I thought was it our most complete game of the year to date. What a response from a tough weekend last weekend to go on the road and do that. I'm so proud of them; we've been talking about attitude and effort, controlling what we can control."

In the second half, the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 55-19, limiting TLU to 22.22 percent shooting, and ended the game on a 17-3 over the last 5:44 of scrimmage.

Sophomore Ty Hendler scored 14 points and finished with three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Senior Scott Ruegg dished 13 points, a team-high three three-pointers, three rebounds and a steal. Finally senior Devin Philio racked up 11 points, four rebounds and a steal.

12 Tigers put points on the stat sheet, and the team finished with eight steals, including six in the second half.

"They did that at a high level, and we got better," Conarroe said.  "Despite the schedule, we just need to keep improving to be our best selves at the end of the year. Today, we took a big step. We were so connected on both ends of the floor, and they played their hearts out."

CC led 42-37 at the half after 10 first-half points from Hendler. The San Diego native shot 4-7 from the floor, including 2-2 from long range.

Orion Samikoglu scored the first bucket of the day with a layup 13 seconds from the tip-off. The Tigers never trailed over the 40 minutes of play. CC worked their lead up to as many as 13 before TLU managed to cut it down to five going into the break.

The Tigers exploded offensively in the second half, going on a 10-0 run after the break. With 17:11 to play, they led 52-37. After a quick TLU bucket, CC went on another run, this one a 13-0 dash that ballooned the lead to 26 points.

CC continued to make stop after stop defensively while the offensive shot 55.99 percent from the floor (19-34).

Nofziger led all scorers with 11 points in the half, while everyone else also got their fair share. Twelve players scored in the half as the team shut down TLU in the final minutes, ending the game on a 17-3 run over the final six minutes.

CC improved to 6-7 on the season (2-2 SCAC) and will return home riding a two-game winning streak. Concordia University and McMurry University will visit Reid Arena on Jan. 17 and 19, the first matchups against CC as the SCAC's newest members.
