William Paterson Men's Basketball Drops Home NJAC Contest to Kean

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (5-8, 1-5 NJAC) fell 91-59 to Kean (6-7, 4-2 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Jan. 8 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Kean built a 19-point advantage (32-13) with 6:52 on the clock in the first half before going into the break leading by 15 (41-26).
  • Freshman Jianni Moran buried a jumper at the 18:50 mark of the second half, sparking a 9-2 WP run that pulled the Pioneers within nine (45-36).
  • However, Kean pushed its lead back to double figures and outscored the Pioneers, 46-23, the rest of the way to earn the 91-59 conference road win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior David Martinez scored a game-high 21 points to go with three rebounds and three steals.
  • Senior Andre Wells shot 5-for-10 (.500) from the field for 11 points while adding a team-high nine boards and six assists.
  • Senior Neftali Valentin logged 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • Freshman Delani Hyde had five points, five rebounds, three blocks and an assist.
