DePauw Picks Up NCAC Road Win

Hiram, Ohio - DePauw trailed by double digits early in its North Coast Athletic Conference game at Hiram, but the Tigers rallied for a 73-64 win. The Tigers improved to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC, while the Terriers dropped to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Hiram jumped out to a 13-2 lead as the Tigers turned the ball over five times in the opening five minutes. DePauw drew even at 20-20 on Vince Nixon's layup with 7:44 left in the half. The Terriers briefly regained the lead before the Tigers scored 15 straight over a 3:40 stretch to grab a 35-22 advantage. DePauw took a 40-24 halftime lead.

Hiram climbed back into the contest with an 8-0 run.to cut DePauw's lead to 50-45. The Tigers pushed the margin back to 10 at 59-49 before the Terriers rattled off rattled off six straight to trim the deficit to 59-55 with 7:41 remaining.

Caleb Washington's jumper followed by Reph Stevenson's dunk and layup pushed the lead to 65-55 with 5:52 left. Hiram was no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Sam Jacobs led DePauw with 15 points and five rebounds, while Stevenson followed with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds along with three steals and three blocked shots.

Trent Jakacki, DJ Niles and Dillon McLennan each scored nine for Hiram with Ivan Yang grabbing eight rebounds. Jakacki handed out nine assists.

DePauw shot 45.3 percent from the field with Hiram connecting on 33.3 percent. The Terriers held a 39-38 rebounding edge.

The Tigers travel to Wittenberg on Wednesday, Jan. 8, for a 7 p.m. NCAC contest.
