AUSTIN, Tex. - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team put on an electrifying display Monday afternoon, defeating Southern Maine 84-61 on the second and final day of the Concordia Holiday Classic in Austin, Texas. With this win, the Wolves improved to 10-2 on the season and showcased why they are one of the toughest teams in Division III basketball.
How It Happened
Nebraska Wesleyan wasted no time asserting dominance, jumping to a 11-3 lead within the first two minutes. Christian Winn ignited the offense with a crafty layup and a three, setting the tone early. Southern Maine, however, fought back behind Bryce Lausier, who tallied 24 points and kept the Huskies within striking distance.
The Wolves led 49-41 at the half, thanks in large part to Carter Glenn'splaymaking. Glenn finished the game with 22 points, six rebounds, and four steals, showing off his all-around brilliance. Key contributions from the bench, including Nick Howard's gritty defense and Seth Newton's nine assists, gave Nebraska Wesleyan the depth they needed to outlast Southern Maine's surges.
In the second half, Nebraska Wesleyan's defensive intensity hit another level. The Prairie Wolves forced 11 turnovers in the period, converting those into 13 fast-break points. Highlight moments included a series of back-to-back buckets by Glenn pushed the lead to 15 with 10 minutes remaining. From there, the Prairie Wolves never looked back.
