Abington, Pa. - (12/6/2024) - Off to polar-opposite starts, Gwynedd Mercy University (7-0) had little trouble disposing of Penn State Abington (0-9) by 40 points, 101-61 (0:22), in this evening's contest. The Red and the Gold had an outstanding shooting night with a .529 (36-of-68) field goal percentage, a .438 (14-of-32) three-point percentage, and a .938 (15-of-16) free throw percentage; the last serve's as a season's best thus far. Senior forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) led five Griffins in double figures with 16 points, while senior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) was a factor without reaching double digits with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.

  • Gwynedd Mercy University led Penn State Abington from tip-off to final buzzer as an opening three-point basket from senior guard Aquil Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa.) (3-0, 19:55) led to an early 12-point advantage, 29-17 (8:40) that reached 20 points, 47-27, with 2:32 remaining in the first half. The same difference remained at intermission; 53-33 (0:27), following three Thomas free throws.
  • In the second half, a three from graduate guard  Dylan Harris (Bloomsburg, Pa.) pushed the Red and Gold advantage to 30 points, 68-38 (14:56), and a layup from sophomore forward Travon Mack (Coatesville, Pa.) made the difference 40 points, 87-46 (8:35). That is where the difference remained when the final buzzer sounded.
