Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 78-75 victory in overtime over Newport News Apprentice on Tuesday night, improving to 3-3 on the season. It was the first overtime game of the 2024-25 campaign, and the Bishops showcased resilience, overcoming a buzzer beater three to send it to an extra period by the Builders.

Center Kyron Kelly led the charge for Wesleyan, recording a dominant double-double with seventeen points and fourteen rebounds. Kelly was efficient from the field, shooting 6-of-10, and also went 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Guard Marquis Eskew was also key for the Bishops, contributing sixteen points and two rebounds, while shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line.
Omari Bolden and Justin Burden added ten points each, with Bolden knocking down two three-pointers and Burden securing a double-double with ten rebounds to go along with his ten point effort.
Wesleyan's dominance inside and on the glass was huge all night long, as the Bishops had 40 points in the paint and hauled in a staggering 65 rebounds, 30 of which were offensive. Wesleyan also capitalized at the free-throw line, making 15-of-20 attempts. NCWU forced eighteen turnovers and scored 30 second-chance points, securing a gritty win.
