Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets opened their home slate for the 2024-2025 season with their most dominant win in recent memory, 122-66 over Warren Wilson.
Tonight's contest included the fifth most points in a single game in program history. The other highest scoring games were 160 vs. Roanoke (Feb. 17, 2016), 131 vs. King's College (Dec. 9, 2017), 131 vs. Emory & Henry (Jan. 16, 2008) and 126 vs. UNC Charlotte (1965-66).
Six players for Lynchburg finished with double-digit points, highlighted by a 25-point night from Piercen Young. The junior guard set a new career high off of 10/11 shooting and 5/5 from beyond the arc. Young also added seven dimes and four boards to his career night. Mason Makovec and Michael Gray also set a new career high in points, finishing with 14 and 10 respectively.
Lynchburg finished the contest shooting 66% from the floor and 52% from three. The Hornets assisted on 27 of their 48 made field goals.
On the defensive end, sophomore forward, John Henderson set a new career high in steals with three on the night. The Hornets finished with 13 steals all together.
Freshman Jamarcus Brown finished with the second most team points, 16, on 8/10 shooting from the floor. Brown's night featured a barrage of highlight jams that continued to amaze.
The Hornets will now head to the Pablo Coto Tournament at Marymount for a matchup against Amherst on Saturday, Nov. 23.
