GROVE CITY, Pa. (November 20) – A late three-point shooting barrage by Grove City spoiled the Waynesburg University men's basketball team's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener as the Wolverines earned a 64-56 victory on Wednesday evening.

Waynesburg falls to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in league play. Grove City rises to 3-2, 1-0 PAC. 

Grove City knocked down five three-pointers in a little more than three minutes of game time to turn a 44-41 Waynesburg advantage with 7:19 left in regulation into a 56-47 Grove City lead with four minutes remaining. 

Following the Wolverines' 15-3 flurry, Waynesburg pulled within five (58-53) with 1:44 to play. Grove City converted eight fouls shots in the final two minutes of play to clinch the eight-point win.

Grove City opened a 12-6 lead in the game's opening seven minutes. The Jackets scored the next six points, four coming from the foul line, to tie the game at 12. 

Waynesburg used a 7-0 run with baskets by Duvall Price (Lanham, Md. / St. Maria Goretti), Grant Barnhart (St. Mary's, W.Va. / St. Mary's) and PJ Suggs (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg) to go ahead 21-18. The Wolverines scored four-straight points before Suggs answered with a three-point play to put the Jackets up 24-22 with 1:34 left in the half. 

Scott Bilovus (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) and Antone Baker (Maple Heights, Ohio / Maple Heights) sank four foul shots in the final minute of the half to give the Jackets a 28-23 edge at the break.

Waynesburg led 42-36 following a 7-0 Yellow Jacket run that featured a three by Bilovus and four points by Baker. The Wolverines stayed attached with a three with 10:21 left in the half, and Grove City's outside shooting powered them to victory over the final 10 minutes of play.

Suggs paced the Jackets with 13 points, three rebounds and three steals. Baker finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

The Jackets outrebounded Grove City 42-33 and had 15 second chance points. Waynesburg recorded a dozen steals in the contest.

The Jackets travel to defending PAC champion Geneva on Saturday.
